Enhancing an internal design tool to accelerate feature delivery and help users transition from external tools to a unified platform.

Evolving an internal design tool
Improving an internal design tool to accelerate feature delivery, support designers, and replace outdated third-party software.

Before

After
The challenge
Cimpress was developing an internal design tool to help designers create artwork and templates for print products. These designs needed to follow specific file formats and technical requirements to ensure they could be correctly processed by printing machinery.
Previously, designers relied on third-party tools that were becoming outdated and didn't fully meet their needs. The goal was to build a more capable, integrated solution that supported their workflows while continuously introducing new features.
Given the tool's importance to designers, we needed to deliver improvements at pace while ensuring the experience remained intuitive, reliable, and fit for purpose.
My role
As the UX Designer, I worked closely with the Product Manager and Lead Developer to shape the product roadmap, prioritise the backlog, and design and deliver new features.
My responsibilities spanned the design process, from research and exploration to prototyping, testing, and implementation. I also incorporated AI into my workflow to accelerate research, explore solutions, and build prototypes that could be quickly validated with users and developers.
